The New WinZip Interface

The all-new WinZip interface features a modern layout that brings enhanced visibility and productivity to everything you do with your files. Now you can easily browse, copy, move, rename and delete files within WinZip. Encryption, PDF conversion and sharing options are more flexible and easier to access. New touch screen support puts the power of WinZip at your fingertips on almost any screen or device.

The WinZip 19 interface includes three panes:

  1. Files pane: Easily add files from or unzip to local, network and cloud locations; and perform many file management tasks, including copying, moving, and renaming files and folders
  2. Zip file pane: Drag files and/or folders from the Files pane into the Zip file pane or use context sensitive buttons to create Zip files; manage the content in existing Zip files; unzip and/or share the content of Zip files
  3. Actions pane: Convert and protect files, save or share Zip files, and unzip files in Zip mode

File management

WinZip 19 displays zipping features by default, but you can easily access file management options for local, network and cloud files by clicking the arrow at the top of the Files page. This pane will display detailed file information and allow you to copy, move, rename and delete files from within WinZip.

The familiar WinZip ribbon

If you prefer to use the WinZip ribbon that you’re used to, you can expand it in one of two ways. In Windows 8, click the arrow button near the top right of the WinZip window to toggle the ribbon on or off. Or, in all Windows versions, uncheck the Minimize the Ribbon entry on the Quick Access toolbar drop down menu.
