Self-Extractor 3.1 Requirements
- WinZip Self-Extractor 3.1 requires Windows 98, Windows Me, Windows 2000, Windows XP, or Windows Vista.
- WinZip Self-Extractor 3.1 cannot create self-extracting Zip files from Zip files that contain:
- WavPack compression
- bzip2 compression
- Extended Zip file format
- files originally greater than 4gb (pre-zipped)
- Zip files greater than 4gb in size
- more than 65,535 files
- Windows is unable to utilize executables greater than 2gb in size.
- WinZip Self-Extractor 3.1 supports the following custom icons:
Technical details: WinZip Self-Extractor will copy the pixel images from the specified icon file.
When run under Windows 2000, Windows Server 2003, or Windows XP, icons of the following format are supported:
- 16X16 - 4-bit color
- 16X16 - 8-bit color
- 16X16 - 32-bit alpha-blended color
- 32X32 - 4-bit color
- 32X32 - 8-bit color
- 32X32 - 32-bit alpha-blended color
- 48X48 - 4-bit color
- 48X48 - 8-bit color
- 48X48 - 32-bit alpha-blended color.
When run under Windows Vista, these additional icon formats are supported:
- 96X96 - 32-bit alpha-blended color
- 128X128 - 32-bit alpha-blended color
- 256X256 - 32-bit alpha-blended color
Ensure that the icon images you include in your icon file conform to the image sizes and color densities specified above. WinZip Self-Extractor will ignore non-conforming icons files and provide a default set of icons in their place.
NOTE: This feature is unavailable when WinZip Self-Extractor is run on Windows 98 and Windows Me (a default icon is provided).
