Key Features of WinZip E-Mail Companion
Automatic, Prompted or Manual Zip and Encrypt. Quickly and easily compress e-mail attachments when you press Send in Microsoft Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail. Sending confidential information? Use WinZip® E-Mail Companion’s password-based encryption option to protect your attachments.

File Exclusion List. When sending single file attachments you can save time by excluding designated file types from WinZip E-Mail Companion’s automatic compression option. You can also set a file size filter so that WinZip E-Mail Companion doesn’t compress files smaller than the limit you set.
File types and minimum attachment file size can be easily modified through the WinZip E-Mail Companion tab found in Options under the Tools menu in Outlook, Outlook Express or Windows Mail.

Advanced Zip File Compression using Best Method. Achieve optimal file compression to ensure that your e-mail attachments are as small as possible. This is especially helpful when you’re trying to send files that may otherwise exceed the maximum size allowed by your (or your recipient’s) e-mail service. Choosing our ‘Best method’ option will also reduce the time to send and receive your e-mail, and minimize the amount of space required to store e-mails with attachments. Set your preferred compression method and quickly change them as needed on a message-by-message basis.

Password-based AES Encryption. Use passwords or passphrases to protect your confidential information from unauthorized access with WinZip’s 128-bit or 256-bit AES encryption.
AES encryption provides much greater cryptographic security than the traditional Zip 2.0 compatible encryption. Encryption applied to an attachment is done when the file is zipped. The recipient of the attachment must then use a password to extract the contents from the Zip file.
WinZip E-Mail Companion's advanced encryption uses the Rijndael cryptographic algorithm which, in 2001, was specified by the National Institute of Standards and Technology (NIST) in Federal Information Processing Standards (FIPS) Publication 197 as the Advanced Encryption Standard (AES).
When sending an AES-encrypted attachment, your recipients will need a compatible Zip file utility, such as WinZip 9.0 or later to decrypt the files with the password you supply.

Alternate Attachment Extension. Automatically change the file extension used for your compressed attachments to prevent some e-mail services from blocking them.

Legacy Zip 2.0 Support. If your recipient has an older version of WinZip, he or she may not be able to open Zip files created with WinZip’s AES encryption or advanced compression methods. Therefore, WinZip E-Mail Companion allows you to create compressed and encrypted attachments using the Zip 2.0 standard. Using Zip 2.0 ensures that any version of WinZip (or other standard Zip utility) can open the attachment.
Microsoft Office Integration. Save your files as a Zip file or send your file as a compressed e-mail attachment directly from Microsoft Word, Excel or PowerPoint.

Flexible Configuration. Customize the behavior and performance of WinZip E-Mail Companion to meet your specific needs. You can set your preferred settings to be used for every e-mail and still have the option to quickly change them as needed on a message-by-message basis.
